Cardinals Roll Past Lipscomb for Tuesday Win

Louisville won 13-0 on Tuesday for its sixth straight victory.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team cruised to a 13-0 victory in seven innings over Lipscomb on Tuesday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (13-2) has now won six straight after recording its first shutout of the season.
Justin West got the afternoon started with a pair of shutout frames and Alex Alicea opened the scoring with a two-run triple in the bottom of the second.
Two innings later, Matt Klein stretched the lead out with a three-run shot to the berm in left-center for his third homer of the season.
The Louisville offense then kicked into overdrive in the fifth. Tague Davis kicked things off with his sixth long ball of the season before RBI singles from Nate Earley and Kamau Neighbors made it an 8-0 game.
A pair of balls to the backstop brought two more runs across to put the Cardinals in double digits before Garret Pike drove in two and Earley added his second run-scoring single of the inning.
In total, the Cards sent 13 batters to the plate in the fifth, matching its season-high for runs in an inning with eight.
The Louisville pitching staff took care of the rest. In addition to West, Brandin Crawford, Ty Starke, Jake Schweitzer, Ethan Eberle and Tucker Biven combined on the shutout effort.
Alicea and Pike each had three hits as part of a 15-hit effort. Klein, Earley and Neighbors added two hits apiece.
Louisville will host Oakland on Wednesday night with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
