Cards Send Two to Finals Plus Relay After Day 3 Prelims at NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Louisville men's swimming & diving team will send two Cardinals into the Day 3 finals of the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships after Friday's prelims at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

In the prelims of the 400 IM, Tommy Bried finished third in his heat with a time of 3:39.66. Gregg Enoch, who swam in the same heat, touched eighth with a time of of 3:45.01. Bried earned a second swim by qualifying 12th overall. Texas' Rex Maurer is the man to beat tonight after posting a time of 3:37.17 to earn the top seed.

In the 200 freestyle, Guy Brooks finished 19th overall with a time of 1:32.12. Murilo Sartori was seventh in his heat with a time of 1:32.54. Â Texas' Luke Hobson will be the top seed tonight after qualifying with a time of 1:29.60.

In the 100 breaststroke, Denis Petrashov earned a slot in the championship final with a time of 50.57, qualifying sixth in the field while setting a new school record. Jacob Eccleston turned in a time of 51.48 and missed the consolation heat by .03 of a second. His time did set a new Louisville freshman record. Indiana's Finn Brooks put up the fastest time in prelims with a 50.28 to earn lane 4 tonight.

Freshman Filip Kosinski touched in 46.11 in the 100 backstroke to finish 38th overall. Â Jonny Marshall of Florida will be the top seed this evening with the fastest time of 43.88.
