Cardinals Host Butler in Wednesday Matinee

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team welcomes Butler to Jim Patterson Stadium on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra and can be heard on 970 WGTK.
WEEKEND SWEEP OF WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Cardinals swept a three-game series against Western Michigan to begin the home portion of its 2025 schedule. Louisville outscored the Broncos 31-9 on the weekend to stretch its winning streak to four games.
OFFENSE BLISTERING WEEKEND
While Louisville got strong work on the mound in the sweep of Western Michigan, the offense was rolling in the three victories. The Cards hit .408 in the series with 19 extra-base hits, while striking out just eight times.
BUTLER SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and Butler have 17 previous meetings, but the two sides have not played in a decade. The Cardinals are 14-3 all-time against Butler, but the last meeting was a 10-1 UofL victory in February of 2015. The Cards are 4-0 against the Bulldogs under Dan McDonnell.

Zion Rose, Matt Klein and Jake Munroe have made up the 3-4-5 in the Louisville order for the last four contests.
Combined, the trio is hitting .465 (33-for-71) with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored. They have also reached base via walk or hit by pitch nine times with just 10 strikeouts.

- The Louisville offense has tallied double digit hits in four of six games to start the season, going 4-0 in those contests. The Cards notched at least 10 hits 29 times in 2024, posting a 22-7 mark when doing so.
PLAYER NOTES
- Matt Klein had a breakout summer in the Cape Cod League that saw him hit .375 for the Cotuit Kettleers. His hitting ways have continued to start the spring, as he has recorded multiple hits in five of the first six games. Klein leads all ACC hitters with a .522 average through the first two weekends
- Zion Rose was a freshman All-American in 2024 after hitting .380, the top mark of any Power Five freshman during the regular season. He has started the 2025 season by picking up right where he left off. Through six games, Rose is hitting .440 with three doubles, a home run and a team-leading eight RBIs.
- Patrick Forbes has been dominant in his first two starts of 2025. The right-hander has surrendered just two runs over 10 innings, striking out 20 batters to just one walk. Opponents have managed just seven hits against Forbes, who is currently tied for the ACC lead in strikeouts.
- Jake Munroe has acclimated himself well to playing at Louisville. The junior college All-American has at least one hit in all six games to start his UofL career, and is 10th in the ACC with a .435 batting average through two weekends.
- Brennyn Cutts has been lights out through his first two appearances in a Louisville uniform. The 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year has allowed just two baserunners in 4.2 scoreless innings across a pair of relief appearances. Cutts earned his first victory at Louisville with 3.2 shutout frames against Western Michigan on Monday.
- Jack Brown has been nearly perfect in his first two collegiate appearances on the mound. The freshman has retired 13 of the 14 batters he's faced, working 2.2 scoreless innings against Texas on opening night and 1.2 shutout against Western Michigan.
