October 03, 2025 | Women's Soccer
Hadley Snyder scored the lone goal for the Cards
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The No. 23 Louisville women's soccer team (10-3-0, 3-2-0 ACC) saw its three-game winning streak end with a 3-1 defeat to No. 2 Notre Dame (10-0-1, 5-0-0 ACC) Friday night at Alumni Stadium. Louisville scored the first goal of the match but Notre Dame scored the next three to claim the three points in the Top 25 matchup.
Louisville started the match on the front foot with a heavy press and it led to a number of opportunities in the attacking third. The Cardinals were able to turn the Irish over in the midfield and were able to get out on the counter.
After a few early corner kicks, the Cardinals converted in the 18th minute. Betsy Huckaby sent an in-swinging ball towards the back post and Ella Bard. Bard put a shot on frame that was saved by the Irish keeper but the rebound came out to Hadley Snyder. She wasted no time and got it on goal and past the keeper to give the Cards a 1-0 lead.
Notre Dame responded in the 26th minute after a long ball forward found Annabelle Chukwu and she scored to tie the match at 1-1. The score would remain 1-1 heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Cardinals nearly took the lead back in the 49th minute. Emerson Jennings beat the Irish defense was 1-v-1 with the keeper. Her shot was on frame but it was deflected away by the Notre Dame keeper.
Moments later, Notre Dame took the lead in the 55th minute. Ally Pinto scored off a corner kick and put Notre Dame ahead 2-1. The Irish were awarded a corner kick in the 57th minute and Izzy Engle converted to double the Irish lead.
Erynn Floyd was able to make some key saves after the penalty kick to keep the Cardinals within striking distance. Unfortunately the Cards were unable to find the back of the net again and fell to the Irish.
Another Top 25 opponent awaits the Cardinals as the road trip continues next week. Louisville heads to Winston-Salem to face off with the 12th-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Thursday, October 9. The Cardinals and Demon Deacons are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and streamed on ACC Network Extra.
