No. 23 Cardinals Set for Top 25 Matchup With No. 2 Notre Dame

This is the third ranked opponent the Cardinals have faced so far this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 23 Louisville women's soccer team (10-2-0, 3-1-0 ACC) is beginning a three-game road trip this weekend and a Top 25 matchup awaits them on Friday night. The Cardinals head north to take on the second-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-0-1, 4-0-0 ACC) Friday night at Alumni Stadium. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish are set to face off at 6 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Friday's matchup has two of the best offenses in the ACC and the country squaring off against each other. Louisville leads the nation in assists (48) and points (130) and is second nationally in goals (41). Notre Dame is fourth nationally in points (105), fifth in goals (36) and eighth in assists (33). Louisville is second in the NCAA in goal differential (+35) and the Irish are fifth in the nation (+26).
Notre Dame's Izzy Engle leads the ACC in goals (11) and points (25) while Louisville's Amelia Swinarski leads the NCAA and the ACC in assists (9). Swinarski is second in the ACC in points (23) and fifth in the ACC in goals (7).
The Cardinals are taking a three-game winning streak into Friday's match and it will be their first match in over a week. Last time out on Sept. 25, the Cardinals defeated Miami 2-0 at home after goals from Emersen Jennings and Kiley Peat. Erynn Floyd made two saves for her league-leading seventh shutout of the season. Floyd has started in each of the nine shutouts the Cardinals have recorded this season. Louisville picked up its 10th win of the season for its first double-digit wins season since 2019.
The Cardinals have won their last three ACC matches with home wins over Virginia Tech (1-0) and Clemson (1-0) to go with their only blemish, a 2-0 road defeat to No. 7 Florida State back on Sept. 11. Notre Dame is a perfect 4-0 in conference play with wins over Clemson, No. 3 Duke, No. 22 North Carolina and NC State.
