The Cards are coming off a record-breaking 2025 season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Head coach Hunter Norton and the Louisville women's soccer team have announced their schedule for the 2026 season. The schedule features 10 home games at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium with six of the first eight games of the season coming at home.
The Cardinals are coming off an extremely successful 2025 campaign where they set program records for goals, assists, points and regular season wins. The Cardinals racked up 13 wins, the second most in program history, and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. In the winter, Norton took over the reins following the retirement of Karen Ferguson-Dayes.
The Cardinals open the 2026 slate at home against Nebraska on Wednesday, August 12. It will be the first time the two teams have faced off in program history.
Up next will be a home matchup on Sunday, August 16 with IU Indy. It will be the first time the two teams have squared off since 2002 and the Cardinals have won each of the last two matchups against IU Indy.
The homestand concludes on Sunday, August 23 with a matchup against Belmont at Lynn Stadium. It is the second time in program history the Cards will match up with the Bruins after a 2-1 overtime win back in the 2016 season.
The first road match of the season is next on Thursday, August 27, when the Cards head north to take on Dayton. It is the fourth-straight season the two teams have faced each other and the Cardinals came away with a 2-0 win last season in Louisville.
The Cardinals host Akron on Sunday, August 30 at Lynn Stadium. It is the first time the two teams have met in program history.
After meeting in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season, the Battle of the Bluegrass returns as Louisville travels to Lexington on Thursday, September 3 to take on Kentucky. It is the first regular season meeting since 2018. The Cardinals advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament over the Wildcats in penalty kicks last November.
Another first time opponent awaits the Cardinals when they host Mercyhurst on Sunday, September 6.
Conference play begins on Saturday, September 12 as the Cardinals host Pitt. It is the first time Pitt has played at Lynn Stadium since 2023, a 3-2 win for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals head west for a two-game road trip starting on Thursday, September 17 when they take on Stanford. The Cards conclude the trip on Sunday, September 20 with a matchup against Cal. The Cards took down the Golden Bears 2-1 during the 2024 season.
Louisville returns home to host Florida State on Sunday, September 27 before a long string of road games during the month of October.
Three of Louisville's four games in the month of October are on the road and it begins on Saturday, October 3 against Virginia Tech. The Cards took down the Hokies, 1-0, last season in Louisville.
The next road matchup will be on Saturday, October 10 when the Cards head down to Clemson to take on the Tigers. The Cardinals defeated Clemson, 1-0, last season in Louisville thanks to a first half goal from Amelia Swinarski.
The Cardinals lone home game in October is on Friday, October 23 when they host Syracuse at Lynn Stadium. Louisville is 9-0-1 all-time against the Orange and this is the first meeting between the two schools since 2023.
The Cardinals are back on the road to take on Virginia in Charlottesville on Thursday, October 29. Last season, Swinarski scored a late equalizer against the third-ranked Cavaliers and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The final two games of the season will be at home and it begins on Sunday, November 1 as the Cardinals host Boston College. The Cardinals defeated the Eagles 1-0 on the road last season and are unbeaten in the previous two matchups against Boston College that have been held in Louisville.
The regular season concludes on Thursday, November 5 as the Cardinals host North Carolina. Following the regular season, the top 6 teams in the conference will advance to the ACC Championships. Last season, the Cards earned a berth in the ACC Championships for the first time since 2020.
