Cardinals Return Home to Host No. 3 Virginia

Saturday’s match is Senior Day and the senior class will be honored before the match
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a stretch of three weeks away from home, the Louisville women's soccer team is back at home and set to face off with a Top 5 team. The Cardinals welcome No. 3 Virginia to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium for a match on Saturday, October 18 at 5 p.m. ET. Saturday is Senior Day where the Louisville Senior Class will all be honored prior to the match.
The Cardinals are coming off of a four-point road week with a 1-1 draw against No. 13 Wake Forest and a 1-0 win against Boston College. Liza Suydam scored her sixth goal of the season in the 82nd minute to earn the draw against the Demon Deacons. Betsy Huckaby picked up her fourth goal in the third minute to earn the win against the Eagles on Sunday.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Cardinals are working towards a berth to the ACC Tournament. Only the Top 6 teams in the conference advance to the ACC Tournament and as of October 16, the Cardinals are tied for third overall at 13 points with Virginia and Florida State. The current sixth-place team in the ACC has 12 points and there are four teams that either have 12 points or are within three points of reaching 12 points.
The Cardinals continue to have some of the best marks in the country on both sides of the ball as the season continues to wind down. Louisville leads the nation in assists with 51, rank second nationally in points (136) and goal differential (+33) and are fourth in the NCAA in goals with 44. Amelia Swinarski is tied for the ACC lead and is tied for second nationally with nine assists. Erynn Floyd leads the ACC and is tied for fifth nationally with eight shutouts on the season. The Cardinals as a team have 10 shutouts this season and Floyd has started in each of the 10 games.
