Louisville’s 2V8 boat advances to Saturday’s grand final

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Louisville rowing team completed day one of the 2024 Atlantic Conference Rowing Championship Friday morning at Lake Wheeler.

The Cardinals' second varsity eight boat highlighted the opening day with a third place finish in its heat, progressing to Saturday's grand final. Coxswain MacKenna Billington guided Graycen West, Cierra Chavez, Taylor Fausey, Bradlie Hicks, Alaina Holder, Mary Noschang, Emma Bell and Gabrielle Zanoni to a time of 6:59.900.

The varsity eight boat turned in a time of 6:57.166 to place fourth in its heat, while the third varsity eight crew rowed to a fifth placed showing with a 7:35.406 mark.

In the varsity four race, the ninth-seeded Cardinals stroked a time of 7:57.093 to place fourth, nearly 11 seconds ahead of eighth-seeded Boston College.

The championship will conclude on Saturday. The 3V8 boat will get the day started at 8:05 a.m. with the V8 following at 8:30 a.m., the 2V8 grand final is slated to start at 8:55 a.m. with the V4 petite final starting at 9:20 a.m.
