The two Cardinals were named to the For Stars Network 2026 Watchlist that highlights rising stars
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville rowing squad landed two student-athletes on the For Stars Network (FSN) 2026 Watchlist. Sophomore Clara Jane Van Dyk of Port Colborn, Ontario, Canada, and freshman Anna Brennan of Kilkenny, Ireland, earned their way on to the list.
There are 196 athletes from 94 Division I programs around the country named to the third annual FSN Watchlist. The ACC has a strong showing on the list with 30 student-athletes recognized.
Athletes from each team have been selected as athletes "on the rise" in the program. These athletes on the watch list have demonstrated and qualified their placement through their race results, erg times, improvement within their team and positive trajectory in talent and skill since last season and/or this past fall semester.
Van Dyk competed in every race for the Cardinals in 2024-25. She placed first in the Women's Open 2x at the 2024 Music City Head Race and helped the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats win at the 2024 Head of the Hooch. By spring 2025, Van Dyk sat in the No. 5 seat on the 2V8 boat that took gold in the SIRA Championship. She also rowed at the No. 8 seat at the ACC Championship, helping the V8 boat to a second-place finish in the Petite Final.
In fall 2025, Van Dyk competed with Louisville's boats that won the Varsity 8 race and Collegiate 4+ race at the Music City Head Race in Nashville.
While she is fresh on the scene with the Cardinals, Brennan has made an immediate impact. She raced with the Varsity 8A boat that won at the Music City Head Race this past fall. Brennan also sat in the No. 4 chair on the Novice 4+ boat that brought home first place.
The Cardinals open the 2026 season by hosting the 14th Annual Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational March 14-15.
