Louisville defeated St. Bonaventure 18-11 on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team had its offense rolling again on Sunday in an 18-11 victory over St. Bonaventure at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (3-4) has now won three straight and scored at least 15 runs in all three games. The Cardinals pushed home 54 runs in the final three games of the series.
The offense got on the board early Sunday behind a pair of runs in the first inning. However, St. Bonaventure (2-5) tallied two in the third to tie it and two more in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
A sacrifice fly from Logan Beard cut the deficit to one in the third, but it was a two-run double from Luke Napleton in the fifth that gave the Cards the lead back. Eddie King Jr. then followed with a run-scoring single to push the lead to two.
Zion Rose launched a two-run homer to the berm in left in the sixth, the first of his career, and JT Benson gave Louisville a 9-4 edge with a RBI knock of his own.
The Cardinals carried a 10-6 lead into the eighth inning, but the Bonnies strung together six hits in the eighth to plate five runs and take an 11-10 lead.
Louisville had the answer and then some in the bottom half though. Gavin Kilen tied the game with a single into right and Beard notched a single of his own to take the lead back. Alex Alicea and Luke Napleton each added two-run doubles as the Cardinals tallied eight runs in total in the inning to secure the victory.
Lucas Moore was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three stolen bases to lead Louisville's 19-hit attack. Napleton was 3-for-6 with four RBIs, while Benson added three hits and three runs. King, Kilen and Beard chipped in with two hits apiece.
Louisville returns to the diamond on Tuesday to take on Eastern Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
