LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville junior goalkeeper Erynn Floyd was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Floyd was instrumental in the Cardinals 0-0 draw against No. 13 Notre Dame this past Saturday.
Floyd had a career-high 10 saves as the Cards held the Irish scoreless for the first time this season. It was the first time Notre Dame has been shut out since September 7, 2023, a span of 25-straight matches with a goal. Heading into Saturday's match, Notre Dame was averaging 2.73 goals per game.
The 10 saves by Floyd were the most by a Louisville goalkeeper in a game this season. It was the most saves by a Louisville player since Gabby Kouzelos had 10 saves against Virginia during the 2020 season. Floyd is also the first Louisville player since Kouzelos to win ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors during the 2017 season.
Floyd and the Cardinals will be back in action this week on Thursday when they host another ranked opponent. Louisville welcomes ACC newcomer Stanford to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium for a Thursday night matchup. The Cardinal and the Cardinals will square off at 7 p.m. ET with the match being aired nationally on the ACC Network.
