The Cardinals picked up a 14-2 victory on Wednesday night.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On a night built around bringing together the Louisville community, the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University baseball teams squared off on Wednesday night at Jim Patterson Stadium.
With both teams lined up along the baselines, a pregame ceremony and moment of silence was held in honor of the five individuals who lost their lives during Monday's tragic events in Louisville.
In the nine innings that followed, Louisville (25-7) turned in a 14-2 victory over Bellarmine behind a season-high 21 hits.
Isaac Humphrey picked up his first three-hit night of the season to lead the Louisville offense. Thirteen different players recorded at least one hit for the Cardinals with Humphrey, JT Benson, Jack Payton, Eddie King Jr., Brandon Anderson and Logan Beard tallying multi-hit games.
Christian Knapczyk, Will Cook, Anderson and Humphrey all drove in two runs in the win, including the second home run of the season off the bat of Cook.
Evan Webster (1-1) retired all four batters he faced on his way to his first victory of the year. Kaleb Corbett, Greg Farone, Alex Galvan, Ben Wiegman and Kade Grundy all turned in a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Louisville will host its second straight weekend against a top-10 opponent beginning on Friday with No. 2 Wake Forest coming to Jim Patterson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
