
Cardinals Send Six to Finals on Day 3 at NCAA Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Louisville will send six Cardinals into the finals tonight after the Day 3 preliminaries at the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Friday evening at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

Swimmers Abby Hay, Gabi Albiero, Christiana Regenauer, Tristen Ulett, Paige Hetrick, diver Else Praasterink as well as the 400 medley relay team will be swimming in the finals tonight.

In the 400 IM, Abby Hay turned in a 4:07.46 to qualify for the Consols with an 11th seeding overall. Rye Ulett went 4:12 and Paige Kuwata stopped the clock at 4:17.75 in their prelim heats. Virginia's Alex Walsh was the top qualifier with a 4:01.86.

In the 100 butterfly, Gabi Albiero made the championship final when she went 50.46 in prelims to earn a fifth seed. Christiana Regenauer posted a 51.35 and Tristen Ulett boarded a 51.50 to both make the Consol final.

Paige Hetrick dropped almost a full second off her entry time to go 1:43.90 and earn the last slot into the Championship final of the 200 freestyle.

Diver Else Praasterink will compete in the 3M springboard finals and became the first-ever Cardinal to final in springboard in school historyÂ

Cecilia Viberg posted a 1:00.09 in the 100 breast but will not advance.
