Cardinals Finish Day 1 of UofL Last Chance Meet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville swimming and diving team completed the first day of the Cardinal Last Chance Invitational with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ahead of NCAA championship season.
Louisville's Ryan Hogan started the evening off with a 1:50.35 in the 200 IM.
In the 500 freestyle, Louisville's Maddie Luther posted a 4:50.83 and Notre Dame's Mary Cate Pruitt touched in 4:45.03. Ellie Jew from Notre Dame touched in 1:00.74 in the 100 breaststroke.
For the men, UofL's Luke Shourds touched in a D1-B Standard time of 52.62 in the 100 breaststroke. Notre Dame's Ryan Malicki followed with a 55.48.
Notre Dame's Madelyn Christman posted a 1:55.49 in the 200 backstroke and Grace Brenneman touched in 50.22 in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 butterfly, the Fighting Irish's Megan Deuel posted a 1:56.47.
Louisville's Michael Eastman posted a D1-B Standard time of 42.69 in the 100 freestyle followed by Robert Ehrenborg (45.57).
In the last event of finals this evening, Gustavo Saldo of Louisville posted a 1:46.56 in the 200 butterfly while Jacob Pishko touched in 1:46.92. Tate Bacon from Notre Dame touched in a pool record time of 1:43.57.
In diving, the Cardinals competed against both Harvard University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Louisville's Grace Leonard posted a 282.45 and Else Praasterink scored 269.70 in the 3-meter board. Lindsay Gizzi posted a score of 269.35. In the women's 1-meter board, Jiselle Miller scored 287.85.
For the men, Adam Sneden of Louisville posted a 265.25 in the 1-meter board and Louisville's Thomas Dowling scored 255.55 in the platform diving.
