
Women’s Soccer Set to Face No. 8 Clemson

This will be the fourth ranked opponent the Cardinals face this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team is back out on the road as they are in the middle of a three-game road trip that will finish up this week. The Cardinals are heading south and are set to face No. 8 Clemson to start this week. The Cardinals and the Tigers will square off Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are coming off a 1-1 draw on the road against Boston College last Saturday. With the Cardinals trailing 1-0 in the 84th minute, Addie Chester sent a corner into the box and Lucy Roberts connected on the header and found the back of the net for the equalizer. It was Roberts second goal of the season and gave the Cardinals a point on the road. Chester tallied her team-leading sixth assist of the season and it was her second-straight game with an assist.
This will be the fifth all-time matchup between the Cardinals and Tigers and the all-time series is tied at 2-2-1. The Cardinals are 1-0-1 in games played down in Clemson and in their last matchup down there the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw. Clemson tallied a goal in the first half but Ravin Alexander notched the equalizer one minute into the second half for her second career goal and her first since the 2019 season.
The eighth-ranked Tigers are the fourth ranked opponent the Cardinals will face this season. It is the seventh total ranked team on the year as Xavier, Indiana and Pitt were not ranked when the Cardinals faced them but are in the most recent poll. The next two Cardinals opponents (Wake Forest and Duke) are both receiving votes in the most recent poll released this week. Louisville is 0-2-1 against ranked opponents this season with a 1-1 draw against No. 20 Virginia, 0-3 road loss to No. 10 Notre Dame and 0-2 home loss to No. 2 Florida State.
Following Thursday's match, the Cardinals will conclude the three-game road trip this weekend with a Sunday afternoon match against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
