Cardinals Pick Up Fall Victory over Xavier

Louisville outscored Xavier 12-6 in Saturday’s exhibition.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisviille baseball team outscored Xavier 12-6 in a fall exhibition on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville tallied 19 hits on the afternoon, led by four of its returning players.
Cameron Masterman was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, coming up just a triple shy of the cycle. Masterman had an RBI double in the opening inning and later added a three-run homer.
Christian Knapczyk, Ben Metzinger and Dalton Rushing all had a pair of hits as well, with Metzinger driving in two and scoring twice.
Freshmen Will Cook and Noah Smith each picked up two hits on the afternoon, with both players doubling high off the wall in left field.
Tate Kuehner turned in a strong pair of innings on the mound, striking out four of the seven batters he faced in two scoreless innings. Jacob Ferris and Evan Webster also worked two scoreless frames without allowing a hit.
