
Louisville Hosts Auburn on Saturday

The Cardinals and the Tigers will begin play at 5 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a 1-0 win at Dayton two weeks ago to open spring play, University of Louisville women's soccer hosts Auburn (6-5-3) on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are 5-5 on the season and look to move to 2-0 in the spring.

In the Cardinals spring opener at Dayton, Maisie Whitsett scored Louisville's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 16-minute mark of the match. The goal marked her first of the 2020-2021 season. She is 2-2 on penalty kicks in her career. Her last penalty kick goal was also against Dayton, a 5-2 win on Sept. 12, 2019.

With Emina Ekic now with the NWSL's Racing Louisville FC, Whitsett is the Cards' active career leader with 13 goals, 29 points and six game-winning goals.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Auburn's 1-0 win over Georgia brings the Tigers to a 6-5-3 overall record upon entering Saturday's match.A pair of freshmen in Olivia Candelino and goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska lead the Tigers on both offense and defense. Candelino secured the winning goal against the Bulldogs during the 62nd minute, marking her second goal of the spring, while Prohaska turned in her fifth solo shutout. Auburn posted seven shots, targeting six on goal, and recorded five saves on the match. The two freshmen Tigers were recognized as Candelino was named the SEC Freshman of the week and Prohaska was selected as the SEC Defensive Player of the week. This season, Auburn is the third team to receive two honorees in the same week which also marks their fourth and fifth recognitions during their 2020-21 campaign.
