Ekic Earns Two Weekly Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville's Emina Ekic and Clemson's Maliah Morris and have been selected as Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Virginia Tech's Mandy McGlynn has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Ekic was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Ekic helped the Cardinals remain unbeaten on the year, scoring the game-winning goal against No. 9 Vanderbilt in Louisville's 1-0 overtime upset. Ekic also dished out two assists in Louisville's 5-2 win over Dayton last Thursday night.
With 26 seconds left in the first overtime against the Commodores, Ekic fired a shot to the lower left corner to give Louisville the sudden-death victory. The shot makes Ekic 3-of-3 on penalty kicks this season. Against Dayton, a clean pass allowed from the Louisville native Ekic allowed Delaney Snyder to fire a shot above the Dayton goalkeeper's head in the 11th minute and she connected with another teammate for an assist in the second half.
Ekic finished the week with two assists and one goal for four points.
Last weekend, ACC teams earned three top-10 wins: Clemson defeated No. 7 South Carolina, Virginia defeated No. 8 Penn State and Louisville defeated No. 9 Vanderbilt. ACC play begins this weekend with each conference team in action.
