LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Utah Royals FC has signed former Louisville standout Gabrielle Vincent to a full contract the club announced on Thursday.
Vincent joined Royals FC as a non-roster invitee at the start of the 2019 preseason, subsequently impressing the coaching staff and earning a spot on the supplemental roster to start the National Women's Soccer League Season.
Since then Vincent became a vital part of Utah's defense during the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, making seven appearances and six starts under Head Coach Laura Harvey. During those matches Vincent contributed to three clean sheets, in doing so she recorded 36 clearances, five blocks, nine tackles and a 84.15 percent passing rate.
Last season Vincent earned second team United Soccer Coaches Association all-region honors while with the Cardinals. Vincent was a starting centerback for the Cardinals all four seasons. She helped guide Louisville to seven shutouts last season, while dishing out one assist. Vincent also served as team captain the last two seasons and helped guide the Cardinals to their best ACC finish and an NCAA Tournament appearance in her final season.
