LOUISVILLE CLAIMS FOURTH ACC ATLANTIC DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
With its win on Thursday over Florida State, the Cardinals captured the ACC Atlantic Division crown for the fourth time in five seasons as members of the conference. Louisville has won a regular season title in nine of the last 11 seasons across three different conferences.
The Cardinals were the only team in the ACC to finish with 20 or more wins and captured the top overall seed for the ACC Championship. Louisville (2015-19) and Virginia (2010-14) are the only schools in ACC history to win at least 20 ACC baseball games four times in a five-year period.
Louisville has an all-time winning percentage of .732 in ACC play (109-40), the highest of any member. The next highest is Florida State at .681 (506-237).
CARDINALS AIM FOR FIRST ACC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
While the Cardinals have won the ACC Atlantic Division in four of their first five seasons in the conference, Louisville is still searching for its first ACC Tournament title.
UofL was just 3-5 in its first three championship appearances, but went 2-0 in pool play in 2018 and defeated Pitt in the semifinals. However, the Cardinals came up just short in the championship contest, losing 11-8 to Florida State in 10 innings.
As a program, Louisville owns two conference tournament titles, winning the Big East Championship in 2008 and 2009.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville played three-game series against both Boston College and Clemson this season. The Cardinals won two out of three over BC in March at Jim Patterson Stadium, but dropped two of three at Clemson in April. UofL holds a 12-4 edge all-time against Boston College, while Clemson leads the series with Louisville 12-10.
TEAM NOTES AND TRENDS
- Louisville captured its 40th win of the season at Virginia. The program record for victories in a season was 39 prior to Dan McDonnell's arrival in 2007, and the Cardinals have reached 40 wins in 12 of McDonnell's 13 seasons.
- Logan Wyatt, Alex Binelas and Zach Britton each hit home runs in the first inning of the series opener against Florida State. It was the first time the Cardinals have recorded three home runs in a single inning since Justin McClanahan, Chris Dominguez and Andrew Clark went back-to-back-to-back on April 16, 2008 at Ohio State.
- The Cardinals pitching staff struck out 23 batters last week at Indiana. It was the most strikeouts in a game for UofL since at least 2000 and the third-highest total in Division I this season, trailing only Clemson (24) and Georgia (26) from their 20-inning game in April.
- The Louisville offense has tallied double digit hits in 28 games this season. The Cardinals are 38-1 this season when they outhit the opposition.

- Tyler Fitzgerald ranks fourth in the country among shortstops with 60 RBIs on the season, trailing New Mexico State's Joey Ortiz (82), Vanderbilt's Ethan Paul (64) and Bryant's Jimmy Titus (63).
- Logan Wyatt is third in the country with 63 walks through 56 games. The UofL single season record in 69 by Kevin Malone in 1980. His total ties his mark from last season and is third-most in program history. Wyatt is tied for sixth all-time at UofL with 129 for his career.

DETMERS RECOGNIZED AS ACC PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Reid Detmers' outstanding sophomore campaign added another laurel to it on Monday as he was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year.
Detmers is the second Cardinal to earn the top pitching honor in the ACC, joining Drew Harrington who did it in 2016. The left-hander is the seventh pitcher to win the conference pitcher of the year award under Dan McDonnell and associate head coach Roger Williams.
The Chatham, Illinois, native captured the pitching triple crown this season, leading all ACC qualified pitchers in wins (11), ERA (2.42) and strikeouts (138). He has struck out at least 10 in eight starts and has twice taken a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Through 14 regular season starts, Detmers is already tied for fifth on Louisville's single season list in wins and second for strikeouts, just eight behind former ACC Player of the Year and Golden Spikes Award winner Brendan McKay.
SIX CARDINALS NAMED TO ALL-ACC TEAMS
In addition to Reid Detmers taking home the top pitching honor, six Cardinals were named to the three All-ACC teams.
Detmers was the lone first team selection for Louisville, with Alex Binelas, Michael McAvene and Logan Wyatt representing the Cardinals on the second team. Tyler Fitzgerald and Justin Lavey were on the third team. Binelas was also on the 12-member All-Freshman team.
The six selections were tied with Clemson, Florida State and Georgia Tech for the most in the ACC. The Cardinals have had at least six selections in each of their five years as members of the conference.
LOUISVILLE HITS 40-WIN MARK FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT SEASON
The Cardinals captured their 40th victory of the season in the opener at Virginia. Louisville has won at least 40 games in seven consecutive years and 12 of 13 seasons with Dan McDonnell at the helm. Prior to McDonnell's arrival, the program record for victories in a season was 39.
Louisville's run of seven straight seasons with 40 wins in the regular season is the longest such streak in the country. NC State is currently the only program with two straight years of 40-plus regular season wins, although Stanford can reach 40 for the third straight season if it wins one game this weekend against Arizona State.
FITZGERALD ONE OF 14 SEMIFINALISTS FOR BROOKS WALLACE AWARD
Junior Tyler Fitzgerald is one of 14 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award. The award, sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation.
Fitzgerald started the first 53 games at shortstop for the Cardinals, leading the team with a .338 batting average, 73 hits, 60 RBIs and 113 total bases, all of which are career highs. Fitzgerald also has a career-best seven homers on the year and his RBI total was fourth among the country's shortstops.
The Rocherster, Illinois, native is one of four ACC shortstops among the final 14, joining Wake Forest's Patrick Frick, Georgia Tech's Luke Waddell and NC State's Will Wilson.
DETMERS NAMED GOLDEN SPIKES AND DICK HOWSER AWARD SEMIFINALIST
Continuing his year-long run of accolades, starting pitcher Reid Detmers was named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Award.
The sophomore is the 12th player in program history to be a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and the first since Drew Ellis and Brendan McKay in 2017. The duo was also on the semifinalist list for the Dick Howser Award in the same season.
Both awards will announce their winners on Friday, June 14 prior to the opening day of the 2019 College World Series.
