Brooklynn Rivers Earns Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week Honors

Rivers earned national player of the week honors from Top Drawer Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville junior Brooklynn Rivers was named the Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Rivers led the Cardinals to two ACC wins last week against Notre Dame and Syracuse. Rivers scored the game-winner in both matches, giving her four game-winners on the season.
In the 59th minute against Notre Dame, Mollie Rouse sent a pass to Allison Whitfield who delivered a cross into the box and found Rivers, whose header flew past the keeper and into the goal to give the Cards a 1-0 advantage. Louisville went on to defeat the Irish 2-0.
On Sunday against Syracuse, Rivers scored the Cards' lone goal in exciting fashion. With time expiring, Maisie Whitsett sent a cross into box to Rivers who turned and blasted the ball into the back of the net with nine seconds left on the clock to secure the 1-0 victory for the Cardinals.
The Fort Thomas native is tied for the lead on the team with 18 points so far this season. She has seven goals and four assists.
Louisville will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at North Carolina. The match been moved from UNC's Finley Fields South to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Game time Saturday in Cary is 12:30 p.m. Live stats will be available on GoHeels.com. The match was originally scheduled to televised on ACC Network Extra, however with the change of venue the TV status is now listed as to be determined. A decision on the TV possibilities will be made later in the week.
