Louisville prepares for 2018 season with a final tune-up against the Eagles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host Morehead State for an exhibition match in Lynn Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 6:00 p.m. The match will serve as a final tune-up as the Cardinals head into the much anticipated 2018 season.

Louisville enters the new year with nine returning starters and 13 newcomers. The Cardinals were a strong defensive team last season and will continue that tradition this season. Returning goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos and centerback Gabrielle Vincent will lead the Louisville defense. Last season the Cardinals held opponents to 1.06 goals and 9.2 shots per game during the 2017 season. Louisville finished the year with eight shutouts, including No. 5 North Carolina (preseason ACC favorite). Kouzelos registered 50 saves for the Cardinals and finished with a goals against average of 1.05.

The Cardinals return all three leading scorers in Emina Ekic, Brooklynn Rivers and Allison Whitfield. All three players are from Kentucky while two players are from Louisville. Ekic was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch list and to the Preseason All-ACC Women's Soccer team earlier this week. She led the Cardinals in scoring last season with seven goals and three assists for 17 points.

The Cardinals begin the season on Aug. 16 as they host Wright State at 7:30 p.m. in Lynn Stadium.

Season tickets and single match tickets for the 2018 University of Louisville soccer season are on sale now through the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office. The 2018 Louisville soccer tickets can be purchased online at GoCards.com/soccertickets.

Single match tickets are priced at $10 per ticket for reserved chairback seats, $5 per ticket for general admission/berm seats and $4 per ticket for groups of 10 or more. Reserved chairback tickets are priced at $100 for adults, $320 for the Family Four Pack and $80 for faculty/staff. General admission/berm seating is priced at $50 for adults, $200 for the Family Four Pack and $50 for faculty/staff.
