Swimming Set for Last Night of Finals at ACC Championships

Nicolas Albiero has the fastest qualifying time in the 200 butterfly
The University of Louisville  will send 11 swimmers plus three milers into the finals on the final day of competition at the 2018 ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

In the 200 back, Louisville's Nikkos Sofianidis posted a time of 1:42.24 to make the A-final. Daniel Sos' 1:43.36 placed him in the B-final.

In the 100 free, Andrej Barna boarded a 42.77 and is ranked fifth in the A-final going into tonight. Matyi Kovacs won a swim-off as the alternate. Abel Aulbach went 44.70 and Sam Steele had a 44.95  to round out the Cardinals entrants.

Louisville's Carlos Claverie qualified third in the 200 breast with a time of 1:54.57 followed closely by teammate Evgenii Somov, who touched 1:54.59 for fourth. Somov won gold and Claverie silver in the 100 breast yesterday.  Jonathan Zoucha made the B-final with a time of 1:57.33 and Todd Owen will be in the C-final with a time of 1:58.45. Keegan Foulke boarded a 2:01.42 rounded out the field.

Cardinal freshman Nicolas Albiero had the fastest qualifying time with a 1:41.61 to earn Lane 4 in the A-final. Teammate Zach Harting put up a 1:42.22 and will return in the A-final and fourth overall. Etay Gurevich will swim in the B-final, posting a qualifying time of 1:44.50 and tenth overall. Jarrett Jones will join him after posting a 1:45.13.

The 1650 will begin at 4 p.m. and Marcelo Acosta is seeded second with a 14:45.42Â and T.C. Smith and Graham Barrett are fifth and sixth with 15:02.21 and 15:06.16 respectively.

The Cards are seeded fourth in the 400 free relay in the final event of the meet.
