Men's Swimming Sends 17 to Finals After Day 3 Prelims of the ACC Championships

After a busy morning of qualifying, the University of Louisville men's team will send 17 Cardinals to the finals on Day 3 of the 2018 ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

In the 100 breast Nicolas Albiero will be seeded third in the A-final, putting up a 45.89. Joining him in the A-final is Zach Harting, who qualified sixth with a 46.08. In the B-final, will be Nikkos Sofianidis, who turned in a 46.56.

The Cardinals got three in the A-finals of the 400 IM, led by Etay Gurevich's fifth seed time of 3:45.91. Jarrett Jones was the No. 7 seed with a 3:46.34 just ahead of Daniel Sos' 3:47.91. Keegan Foulke made the B-final with a time of 3:48.84. TC Smith snagged a spot in the C-final with a 3:52.56.

The Cardinals will have two in the A-finals in the 200 freestyle, led by Andrej Barna's 1:34.92 (fifth) and Sam Steele's 1:35.02 (sixth). Marcelo Acosta had the fastest time in the B-final prelims with a 1:35.50.

In the 100 breaststroke Carlos Claverie and Evgenii Somov tied with a 52.69 for third fastest qualifiers and will return in the A-final. Jonathan Zoucha made the C-final with a 54.03 and Todd Owen won a swim-off to make final as well.

Nick Albiero is also seeded second in the A-final of the 100 back with a tie of 45.89. Teammate Nikkos Sofianidis made the B-final with a 46.89.

The Cards are seeded second in the 400 medley relay with a qualifying time 3:08.73.
