Focus Turns to Florida for Louisville During Monday Practice

Cardinals conduct Monday workout in preparation for Tuesday night CWS clash with Gators
OMAHA, Neb. - A day after opening the 2017 College World Series with a victory against Texas A&M, the No. 7 national seed Louisville baseball team began its preparations for a winner's bracket matchup against No. 3 Florida with a Monday afternoon practice at Bellevue East High School.
The Cardinals (53-10) conducted an 80-minute practice session under sunny skies at Bellevue's Don RoddyĀ Field as they turned their focus to the Gators, who they will face Tuesday at 7 p.m., ET at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha (ESPN). The matchup with Florida (48-18), which will also have radio coverage on 93.9 The Ville in Louisville, will mark the first time in its four CWS appearances UofL has played the "1-0" game in the winner's bracket. The Cardinals earned the clash with the Gators with the 8-4 triumph over the Aggies on Sunday afternoon. Florida advanced to the winner's bracket with a 3-0 victory over No. 6 TCU on Sunday night.
Junior righthander Kade McClure will get the start on the mound for Louisville, while sophomore rightyĀ Brady Singer will get the nod for Florida. McClure moved to 8-3 on the season and 21-4 in his collegiate career after pitching effectively into the sixth inning and earning the win in game one of the NCAA Super Regional against Kentucky on June 9. The Mentor, Ohio native ranks seventh in career wins at Louisville and is 10th in single season strikeouts with 102. Singer has a 7-5 recordĀ with a 3.29 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 112.0 innings this season.
Louisville is just 1-4 all-time against Florida, while Tuesday's game will mark the first meeting between the team since 2009. The Cardinals improved to 2-6 all-time at the College World Series with Sunday's win against Texas A&M. Louisville has a 6-0 record in the 2017 NCAA Championship, including three straight wins against SEC foes. The Cardinals have a 5-1 record this season against SEC opponents.
Tuesday's schedule in Omaha will begin with an elimination game at 2 p.m., ET featuring TCU and Texas A&M. The winner of that game will face the losing team in the Louisville-Florida contest in another elimination matchup on Thursday at 8 p.m., ET on ESPN2. The winning side in the clash between the Cardinals and Gators will move to 2-0 in Omaha and next play on Friday at 8 p.m., ET. Ā
