Swimming and Diving Hosting TYR Derby Pro Swim Meet

Fundraiser will feature meet and dinner with pro swimmers
The University of Louisville swim and dive program's inaugural TYR Derby Pro Swim Meet will be a team fundraiser weekend with a dinner and a competitive meet to raise money for charity.
Louisville Swimming and Diving will host the TYR Derby Pro Swim Meet at the same time that Churchill Downs will have its opening night in preparation for the Spring Meet. Â
The banquet is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at the PNC Room at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.  The swim meet will be held Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.  t  Earlier in the day on April 29, Churchill Downs has arranged for the athletes to a have "Backside Tour" of the horses warming up for the Derby which will be run on Saturday, May 7. Â

"As a fan of the sport, it has always been a vision of mine to organize a meet that brings world-class athletes together to race; and more importantly, to be a part of a better cause to support the Drowning Prevention Foundation. The community of Louisville is known for its tradition and support of high-level swimming. To bring a special event like this to our city and the University will have a lasting impact on our sport not only in Louisville, but nationwide," said Arthur Albiero, UofL head coach. "We're looking forward to welcoming everyone in Louisville and surrounding areas that want to experience and be a part of the first professional meet of this kind on U.S. soil."
