McKay, Henzman Receive Freshman All-America Honors from D1Baseball

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville lefty pitcher and first baseman Brendan McKay was chosen as the D1Baseball Freshman of the Year while righthander Lincoln Henzman was named to the Freshman All-America team on Monday.
McKay, selected as the nation's top freshman for his two-way impact on the mound and as a position player, was previously named as the Baseball America Freshman of the Year and was chosen as a national Freshman of the Year by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Henzman was a second team selection to the Freshman All-America team marking the third such honor for him after receiving the same recognition by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
In his first collegiate season, McKay (Darlington, Pa.) had a 9-3 record with a 1.77 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 96.2 innings and 20 appearances on the mound, including 13 straight weekend starts for the Cardinals in 2015. Named as the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year on Monday, McKay hit .308 with four home runs, 34 RBI, 38 walks and 32 runs scored in 58 starts as a hitter while occupying the fourth spot in Louisville's lineup for the final 32 games of the season.
Also named to the 2015 ACC All-Freshman Team, Henzman (Lexington, Ky.) served as a key member of Louisville's bullpen leading the pitching staff in appearances with 28 during his rookie season, including 26 in relief. In 54.1 innings of work this season, he had a 5-2 record with a 2.32 ERA and 47 strikeouts. From March 14 to June 6, Henzman worked 27.1 consecutive innings of relief without allowing an earned run.
In its inaugural season in the ACC in 2015, Louisville set a conference record for league wins in a single season finishing with a 25-5 mark overall to win the Atlantic Division. Chosen as a national seed for the second time in school history, the No. 3 Cardinals finished 47-18 overall after falling just short of a third straight College World Series berth with an NCAA Super Regional loss at Jim Patterson Stadium.
