Baseball America Honors Henzman as Freshman All-American
June 22, 2015 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville righthanded pitcher Lincoln Henzman was named to Baseball America's Freshman All-America team on Monday as a second team selection.
It marked the second such honor for Henzman, who was chosen as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper earlier this month. Henzman was joined on Baseball America's Freshman All-America by teammate Brendan McKay, who was tabbed as the College Freshman of the Year.
Also named to the 2015 ACC All-Freshman Team, Henzman served as a key member of Louisville's bullpen leading the pitching staff in appearances with 28 during his rookie season, including 26 in relief. In 54.1 innings of work this season, he had a 5-2 record with a 2.32 ERA and 47 strikeouts. From March 14 to June 6, Henzman worked 27.1 consecutive innings of relief without allowing an earned run.
In its inaugural season in the ACC in 2015, Louisville set a conference record for league wins in a single season finishing with a 25-5 mark overall to win the Atlantic Division. Chosen as a national seed for the second time in school history, the No. 3 Cardinals finished 47-18 overall after falling just short of a third straight College World Series berth with an NCAA Super Regional loss at Jim Patterson Stadium.
