
Volleyball Sends Nine to USA Volleyball National Team Tryouts

The University of Louisville volleyball team sent nine players Colorado Springs with hopes of joining the USA Women's National Team.
Over 240 athletes from 90 colleges and universities tried out to be selected for the WNT, the Collegiate National Team, formerly called the Senior A2 Team, and the U.S. Women's Junior Volleyball Team. Some of the products who have come out of the tryout include Pepperdine alum, Kim Hill, who was named MVP at the 2014 FIVB World Championship.
Among the Cards at the open tryout were junior setter Katie George, sophomore outside hitters Janelle Jenkins and Maya McClendon, and USF transfer Erin Fairs. Junior libero Roxanne McVey and sophomore Lyndsay Palmer also tried out along with freshman middle blockers, Tess Clark and Maggie DeJong, and incoming freshman libero Molly Sauer.
The U.S. Women's National Team is coached by Karch Kiraly, three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer. Kiraly, who led the U.S. to their first FIVB World Championship title in 2014, along with the U.S. Women's National Team staff led the tryout process.
Athletes will be notified by early March if they have been selected for a spot on the roster. USA Volleyball will announce the selections by the end of March once all roster spots are confirmed.
