In the first set, Louisville blew out to a 15-5 lead, using .455 hitting and four blocks to catch Clemson flat-footed at the start. The Tigers got not closer than eight at 18-11 on a kill by Mia Moore, as the Cards pulled away from the Tigers for the 25-16 win.
Â
The second set mirrored the first as UofL breezed out to a 10-3 lead on two straight kills from Cara Cresse and force Clemson to burn a timeout. The break did not chill the UofL momentum as the Cards went on a 5-0 run ignited by a serving run by Chloe Chicoine to go up 16-7. After Clemson used its final timeout of the set, UofL increased the lead to 10 at 21-11 on a kill and a block by Cresse. UofL hit set point at 24-12 on a Clemson hitting error and then took the set on a block from Hannah Sherman and Chicoine.
Â
In the third set, Clemson took its first lead at 5-4 on a kill by Moore but two Tiger errors later, UofL grabbed the lead back on a block by Cresse at 6-5. UofL never trailed again although the Tigers chipped away at the lead and after a 5-1 Clemson run to get to 17-14, UofL called timeout. In fact, Clemson cut the lead to one at 18-17. UofL did not falter, spreading the lead again to four at 22-19 on a CU serving error. UofL hit set point at 24-1 on a kill by Kalyssa Blackshear before Payton Petersen combined with Cresse for a block to give the Cards the 25-21 win.
