Swimmers Make Splash at Day 2 Finals at Arena Pro Series in Minneapolis

Carlos Claverie wins the 200-breast to highlight an evening of fast racing by the Cards.

Carlos Claverie picked up a win in the 200-breast as just one highlight in the second day of finals at the Arena Pro Series in Minneapolis in the University Aquatic Center Friday night.

The Arena Pro Swim Series at Minneapolis is a FINA-approved competition where swimmers can achieve qualifying times for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Here is a race by race breakdown of the Flight A finals:

In the 200 fly final: KelsiWorrell seventh in 2:12.58, Mara Pugh was 22^nd in 2:17.74, Abigail Houck was 28^th in 2:16.87.

In the women's 50-free, Kelsi Worrell was fifth with a time of 25.35. Freshman Mallory Comerford was 17^th in 25.55.

In the men's 50-free, Joao De Lucca was seventh in 22.82, Trevor Carroll went 23.48 for 24^th, Caryle Blondell was 29^th in 23.48.

In the 100-back, Ashley LeClair was 12^th in 1:02.86 just ahead of 13^th place Alina Kendzior (1:03.00). Hannah Magnusonm was 21^st in 1:03.80 tying Mackenzie Buss.

In the men's 100-back, Grigory Tarasevich was second with a time of 54.28. Aaron Greene was eighth in 56.12 and both were ahead of Michael Phelps' 56.12. Pedro Oliveira was 18^th in 56.48 and Nolan Tesone was 21^st in 57.29, just ahead of teammate Max Grodecki's 54.37 22^nd place time. Josh Quallen was 28^th in 57.25 and Christian Garkani was 32^nd in 59.12.

In the 200-breast, Andrea Cottrell was seventh in 2:28.16 and teammate Rachael Bradford Feldman was 10^th in 2:32.55. Lauren James was 21^st in 2:36.61 and Manuela Sampaio was 27th in 2:36.44.

Carlos Claverie won the 200-meter breaststroke with a 2:10.86 and Thomas Dahlia was fifth in 2:14.55. Dexter Thomas was 22^nd in 2:22.17 and Todd Owen was 27^th in 2:22.37. Brennan Berger was 31^st in 2:24.48.

In the 400-free Mallory Comerford was 17^th in 4:16.65 and teammate Andrea Kneppers wa 29^th in 4:22.25.

In the 400-free, Marcelo Acosta was second in 3:53.57 and Trevor Carroll was fifth in 3:57.88.
