
Young Named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore infielder Ty Young was selected as the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Louisville baseball team to a 4-1 record last week.
In Louisville's five games last week, Young (Coatesville, Pa./Malvern Prep) hit .529 (9-for-17) with his first career home run, five RBI, seven runs scored, two stolen bases on two attempts and an .824 slugging percentage. Overall, Young leads Louisville with a .440 batting average this season to go with a .660 slugging percentage, 11 RBI, and six stolen bases in his six attempts.
Young is the second Cardinal to be named BIG EAST Player of the Week this season joining senior Stewart Ijames, who was selected on Feb. 27.
The 21st-ranked Cardinals will host Ohio State for a mid-week matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m., ET at Jim Patterson Stadium. Louisville will open BIG EAST Conference action with a three-game series against Cincinnati starting Friday at 6 p.m.
