Cards Rally for Win Over Nebraska in Arlington
February 20, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team erased an early deficit on its way to a 4-2 victory over Nebraska on Friday afternoon at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Louisville (3-2) has now won three straight after a pair of losses to start the season.
After squandering scoring opportunities in the first and fourth innings, the Cards found themselves down 2-0 at the midway point on Friday.
The Louisville offense finally cashed in in the sixth. Kade Elam led the frame off with a double to chase the Nebraska (3-2) starting pitcher. Tague Davis then worked a walk off the new reliever to put the tying run on.
Jax Hisle followed with a groundball back to the mound, but the pitcher's throw to second base ended up in left-centerfield, allowing Elam to come around and score Louisville's first run. Jimmy Nugent would then single off the pitcher's foot to load the bases, but the next two hitters popped up, leaving the runners still on the bases with two outs.
Griffin Crain wouldn't let Louisville miss another opportunity though. The sophomore lined a ground-rule double to right-centerfield to plate a pair and give the Cardinals their first lead of the day.
Jack Brown put scoreless innings on the board in the seventh and eighth, and Davis launched a towering two-run homer to right in the seventh to double the advantage.
Aaron England would then slam the door shut with a perfect ninth, including a pair of strikeouts, to notch his first career save.
Brown earned his first win of the year with 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Ethan Eberle took a no-decision after giving up two runs over 5.2 innings in the start.
Including his go-ahead double, Crain was 2-for-2 at the plate, reaching in all three of his plate appearances.
Louisville will take on Michigan on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for noon ET.
