
Exeter, Melhado at Team Canada U20 National Camp

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville women's soccer standouts Christine Exeter and Rachel Melhado are in Costa Rica at the Team Canada U20 National Camp competing for a spot on the final roster for the 2012 CONCACAF Women's U20 Championship.
Exeter, from Pickering, Ont., Canada, and Melhado, from Brampton, Ont., Canada, are in the final week of the 15-day camp in San Jose, Costa Rica. At the end of the camp, Team Canada head coach Andrew Olivieri will select 20 players for the trip to Panama City, Panama, for the CONCACAF U20 Championship.
The top three teams at the CONCACAF U20 Championship will advance to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Japan Aug. 19-Sept. 8.
Exeter earned All-America honors and was the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2012 after scoring 14 goals with three assists for the Cardinals, which advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history in 2011. Melhado started all 24 games as a sophomore for Louisville's backline and was a key component as the Cards won a school record 14 games and had nine shutouts last fall.
