The camp will take place in Southern Spain
ATLANTA — University of Louisville sophomore defender Ella Bard has been called up to the U.S. U-20 National Team for their upcoming camp, the organization announced on Friday morning. Bard will be heading to Spain as the camp will be held from June 1-9 and take part in two friendly matches as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In Spain, the USA will play France twice, on June 5 and June 8. France, a country that has produced a steady stream of talented female players, will also be participating in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006, are age-eligible for the 2026 FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup in Poland.
This is the fourth time that Bard has been called up to the US Women's National Team during her first year with the Cardinals. In October, Bard was called up to travel with the squad and take part in two friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Portugal's U-19 squads. Bard took part in the U-19 Team Camp held in Portugal in February. She was also selected to the U-20 Team Camp, which also took place in Portugal, back in April.
In her freshman season with the Cards, Bard played in 16 matches and made seven starts. She made her collegiate debut against No. 17 Vanderbilt and earned her first career start against Wright State.
Bard has played all 90 minutes in four matches this season, three of those were clean sheet wins over USC Upstate, Coastal Carolina and Dayton. She played all 90 minutes on the road against No. 2 Notre Dame and she recorded her first career assist against the second-ranked Irish.
