LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore forward Christine Exeter received her NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Team award last week during the NSCAA awards banquet in Kansas City, Mo.
A native of Pickering, Ont., Canada, Exeter was the sixth All-America selection for the Louisville women's soccer program and the first since Joanna Haig earned Soccer Buzz Third Team All-America accolades in 2007. Along with her most recent honor, Exeter was also selected as the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was an NSCAA All-Northeast Region honoree and was nominated for the Canada Soccer U-20 Player of the Year award in 2011.
In 2011, the talented Exeter scored 14 goals and totaled 31 points overall for the Cardinals, who completed their best season ever. She finished with 24 points and scored a league-leading 11 goals in conference action this season and recorded at least one point in 10 of 11 league games. With 21 career goals in two seasons, Exeter was the first Louisville player to be named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year only one season after she was the first Cardinal to be named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year.
Louisville closed the season ranked No. 24 in the NSCAA coaches' poll after advancing to its first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in school history. The Cardinals also earned their first BIG EAST Conference National Division title and set a school record with 14 wins overall.
