
Exeter Earns Collegiate, Canadian Recognition in 2011

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville women's soccer sophomore forward Christine Exeter continued earning honors and recognition this week as she was ranked as the 12th best collegiate player in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com and was nominated for the 2011 Canada Soccer U-20 Player of the Year award.
A native of Pickering, Ont., Canada, Exeter was selected at the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2011 while scoring 14 goals and totaling 31 points overall for the Cardinals. She finished with 24 points and scored a league-leading 11 goals in conference action this season and recorded at least one point in 10 of 11 league games. With 21 career goals in two seasons, Exeter was the first Louisville player to be named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year only one season after she was the first Cardinal to be named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year.
Louisville, which closed the season ranked No. 24 in the NSCAA coaches' poll, completed its best season ever last month with the program's first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. The Cardinals also earned their first BIG EAST Conference National Division title and set a school record with 14 wins overall.
The Canadian U-20 Player of the Year award is open to players eligible for the recent or upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup events and the winner will be announced during the week of Dec. 12-16. Voting for the Canadian U-20 Players of the Year and Canadian U-17 Players of the Year awards will be split evenly by Canadian national staff coaches and all other Canadian coaches who have taken the Canadian Soccer Association's national course at the B and A levels.
