LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville women's soccer team will close the regular season on the road at rival Cincinnati on Saturday night.
Kickoff for the Cardinals and Bearcats is set for 7 p.m., ET at Gettler Stadium. Live scoring for the game will be available through Gametracker at UofLSports.com.
With one game left to play in the regular season, Louisville (9-5-3, 7-1-2) leads the National Division of the BIG EAST Conference with 23 points overall. Georgetown is second with 21 points, while Notre Dame is third with 17 points. The Cardinals, who have clinched a quarterfinal home game in next week's BIG EAST Championship and are looking for their first ever division title, have wins over both Georgetown and Notre Dame. Seton Hall and Villanova are tied for fourth with 12 points. Louisville can clinch the division title with a win at UC or with a Georgetown loss to Villanova on Friday.
Most recently, Louisville earned a 2-1 home win over Rutgers last Friday before taking a 3-0 triumph against Seton Hall on Sunday at Cardinal Park. The wins pushed the Cardinals' winning streak to a season-high five overall, the longest since winning a school record seven straight to open the 2010 season. U of L has lost just once in its last 11 games overall.
Sophomore forward Christine Exeter (Pickering, Ont., Canada/Pickering HS) leads the Cardinals' offense with 11 goals, including 10 in her last nine games. Last week, Exeter scored both goals in the win over Rutgers and added an assist in the win over Seton Hall. Her 11 goals are tied for fifth most in a single season in school history and the most since Jamie Craft scored 11 goals in 2005. In conference games, Exeter leads the BIG EAST in goals (10) and points (22).
Cincinnati enters the weekend at 6-8-4 overall and 2-6-2 in BIG EAST games after splitting a pair of games at home last week. The Bearcats opened the weekend with 3-0 victory over Seton Hall on Friday before losing 1-0 in overtime against Rutgers on Sunday.
Saturday's game will be the 26th all-time on the soccer pitch between Louisville and Cincinnati with the Bearcats holding a 17-8-1 lead. In their last meeting, the Cardinals earned a 3-1 win at home on Sept. 16, 2010. Louisville has won seven of the last eight in the series, including three of the last four at UC.
The Cardinals have clinched no worse than the No. 2 seed in the National Division in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship and will host a quarterfinal game on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m., ET at Cardinal Park. The opponent for the game will be determined following the completion of the regular season this week.
