LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville junior goalkeeper Joanna Haig has been named a fourth-team All-American by Soccer Buzz, becoming the third All-American in Cardinal history, joining teammate Jamie Craft and Krista Dowell.
"Joanna is truly one of the best goalkeepers in the country and this award is very deserving," Head Coach Karen Ferguson said.
"She is an outstanding young woman on and off the field and we are very happy for her that she has been recognized by Soccer Buzz as an All American. Joanna is truly that special player that will enable our program to soar to new heights and solidify us on the national stage."
Haig, in her first season with the Cardinals after transferring from Iowa State, established a school record with her 0.49 GAA and she did not allow a goal over the final 376 minutes of the season
She posted eight shutouts for the season, tying the single season school record, despite not playing in the first four matches of the season.
A member of the All-Region second team last season and the All-Region freshman team in 2004, she competed with the US Soccer U-20 National Team last fall at the 2006 FIFA Women's World Championship in Russia. Haig was honorable mention All-BIG EAST.
Craft was named to the NSCAA/adidas Third Team this season, while Dowell earned the same honor in 1995 and '96.
The 2006 season, the most successful season in Louisville women's soccer history, concluded with the team ranked 24th in the final NSCAA/adidas poll. The Cards posted a school record 13 wins and a .725 winning percentage, also tops in Cardinal history.
