Lower and Seng Named to Academic All-District First Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's soccer players Gina Lower and Amy Seng have both been named to the 2005 COSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team. Their selection to the squad makes them eligible to be voted to the Academic All-American Team, which will be selected later in the month.

Both student athletes were members of the District IV Third Team in 2004 along with then-senior Meredith Miller.

Lower, a senior from Hamilton, was recently named the outstanding graduating senior at the U of L Accounting School of Business. She is a seven-time member of the AD Honor Roll, five-time Dean's List Member, four-time Red and Black Scholar and C-USA Commissioner's Medal winner.

Team captain for the past three seasons, Lower is a four-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council, acting as president last year. She has been team MVP three times, earned the Sherril Brakemeier Award for outstanding underclassmen at U of L last year and was an Arthur Ashe Sport scholar. She will graduate in December with a degree in accounting and carries a 3.75 GPA.

Lower has started 71 matches in her Cardinal career, placing her second in school history.

Seng, a junior defender from Centennial, Colorado is a four-time member of the Dean's list, AD Honor Roll and C-USA Commissioner's list. Seng has also been named Red and Black Scholar Athlete and earned C-USA Commissioner's medal four times. She played every minute of the first 45 matches of her career, and has played all but 24 minutes in three years as a Cardinal.

Seng carries a 4.0 gpa, double majoring in sport administration and accounting at U of L.

The Cards finished their first season in the BIG EAST in third in Division B, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals, and posting an 11-8-0 record, tying for the second most wins in school history.
