LOUISVILLE, KY - University of Louisville women's soccer player Gina Lower has been chosen to represent the school at the 2004 NCAA Leadership Conference to be held May 30-June 3 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
Lower was recently elected President of the U of L Student Athletic Advisory Committee for the upcoming school year and will be one of 324 student-athletes attending the conference.
The junior from Hamilton, Ohio missed the 2003 season with an injury after being named to the All-Conference USA Third Team in 2002 and the All-Freshman team in 2001.
The NCAA Leadership Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
The leadership conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The five-day leadership conference consists of daily exercises and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to a group.
It was also announced that freshman defender Amy Seng was named 2004 U of L Female Freshman Student Athlete of the Year at the Cardinal Sports Banquet.
Seng played every minute of every game and posted a 4.0 GPA in her first semester of college, earning team MVP honors.
