NEW ORLEANS, LA - The 12th-ranked Tulane Green Wave pounded out 36 hits on their way to a doubleheader sweep of the University of Louisville Cardinals Saturday 13-1 in the opener and 10-3 in the nightcap.
An RBI single by first baseman Greg Dini gave the Green Wave(25-9, 9-3) a 1-0 lead in the first in game one.
Nathan Southard singled home a run in the second for a 2-0 advantage.
The Wave busted out for five runs in the third on seven hits and a pair of Cardinal errors for a 7-0 lead.
Four more runs on five hits and a third U of L error in the fifth upped the laed to 11-0 before the Cards broke through for a single tally in the seventh when Mark Jurich scored on a wild pitch.
Single runs in the seventh and eighth closed the books for the 13-1 win.
B.J. Rosenberg (1-2) lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing seven run on nine hits to go with a strikeout in the loss.
Junior Chase Cruse tossed 2.1 frames, surrendering four runs, three of which were earned, on eight hits and a walk, while senior Steve Ayers finished up, allowing a pair of runs on five hits and a walk, striking out one in three innings.
J.R. Crowel (5-1) worked seven innings of four hit baseball, permitting a run on four hits and a walk to earn the win for Tulane in game one.
In game two, Tulane again scored single runs in the first two stanzas.
An RBI single by Barket singled home a run for the Wave in the first inning, and a solo home run in the second by Brian Bogosevic made it 2-0.
A pair of unearned runs in the third gave the Wave a 4-0 cushion.
The Cards(18-13, 7-5) plated a run in the fifth, on an RBI double by Nick Haley, cutting it to 4-1, but the Wave scored the next four, three of them unearned runs for an 8-1 advantage.
Luis Pardo and Daniel Burton belted back-to-back singles in the eighth, but that was all the Cards could manage, with Tulane getting the two runs back in the bottom of the inning.
Five Cardinal errors lead to six unearned runs, and the U of L defense committed eight errors in the twin bill.
Cory Hahn(6-2) earned the win for Tulane with eight solid innings.
Mike Tisdale (1-4) was the losing pitcher, surrendering four runs, two earned, on eight hits and two walks in four innings plus.
Skylar Meade allowed a pair of unearned runs on two walks and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Brian Halford gave up four runs on six hits, striking out two in 2.1 innings. Only two of the runs were earned.
Ron Braun had two hits in the opener, while Burton, Boomer Whiting and Ryan McKinnon had two hits in the night cap.
