Cardinal Women's Soccer Announces 2002 Schedule

LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville women's soccer team has announced its 2002 schedule that will feature 11 home games at Cardinal Park. The 2002 Cards will open its 18th season of competition on the road, August 30th when they travel to Tennessee-Martin, and will usher in the home slate against Dayton on September 1 at 1:00 p.m.
"We are extremely excited about this schedule," said Head Coach Karen Ferguson. "Although it will be very challenging, with the returning nucleus of players and the addition of an outstanding freshman class, I believe we will be competitive in every match."
The match against Dayton will feature a halftime drawing for a family vacation to Disneyland. There will also be two free youth clinics, prior to the games on September 7th and October 27th.
The 18-match schedule will also feature first-time match-ups with Youngstown State, Northwestern and TCU. The team will open the Conference-USA schedule on the road with a September 20th game at Tulane, and close the season at C-USA defending champion Cincinnati.
Ferguson enters her third season at the helm of the Cardinals, having guided the team to the best season since 1997. Eight starters and 15 letterwinners return from last season's squad, including six of the top eight goal-scorers, starting goalkeeper Meredith Miller and C-USA All-Freshman team member Gina Lower.
Admission to all U of L women's soccer home games is free.
