
Lower Earns Conference USA All-Freshman Team Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY - Louisville freshman women's soccer player Gina Lower was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team Tuesday afternoon.
"She has set a standard for the future freshman that enter our program." said Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"Gina fits the profile of the type of student-athlete we want playing soccer for the University of Louisville," Ferguson added.
Lower missed just 15 minutes of time on the field during her intitial campaign, anchoring the Cardinal defense that lowered its goals against down from 81 in 2000 to 46 this past season.
Shots against were cut from 447 in 2000 to 289 during the 2001 season.
Lower prepped at Lakota West High School in Hamilton, Ohio, winning a state championship as a junior. Her club team won three state titles during her tenure.
Louisville was 4-13-0 overall and 2-8-0 in Conference USA this past season, posting conference wins for the first time since the 1997 season.
The four wins doubles the total wins in the last three seasons combined. Louisville will return six of its top eight scorers and eight starters for the 2002 campaign.
