2008: Was limited to only one game played due to injury. Named to Dean's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Red and Black Scholar and BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
2007: Did not play while sitting out the season with a medical redshirt. Was a Red and Black Scholar as well as a member of the Dean's List and AD Honor Roll.
2006: Made a big impact in her first season as a collegian, starting all 20 games in the back for U of L. Selected to the SoccerBuzz Freshman All-Great Lakes Region Team. Helped the Cardinals to one of the stingiest defensive teams in U of L history, tying the season record with 11 shutouts. A member of the AD Honor Roll, Dean's List, Red and Black Scholar and BIG EAST Academic All-Star lists.
High School: Spent two seasons with the cross country team and one on the track and field team in high school. Represented her country on the Canadian National Team, competing for the U-15 team (2003), U-17 (2004-2005), U-18 (2005-present) and is part of the U-20 Pool (2005-present). While playing for the Burlington Xtreme, they won the 2004 Ontario Cup Championship and were the Canadian National Club Championship Silver medalists. Her Ontario Provincial Team were Canadian All-Star Silver medallists in 2004, Canadian All-Star Champions in 2004 and Canada Summer Games Bronze medallists in 2005. Played for the Kitchener Spirit (`97-03) and the Xtreme (`04-05).
Personal: Born in Kitchener, Ontario on 2/14/88 to Marilyn and Jerry Scharoun (pronounced sha-roon). Is majoring in biology at U of L. Would like to go to graduate school and pursue a career in the biology/health science field. Her parents are her biggest influence on her athletically. She likes spending time with her friends and family and baking cookies in her spare time. Her favorite movie is Now and Then and she likes to watch English Premier League Soccer on TV. Charmaine Hooper and Kristine Lilly are her favorite athletes and the Canadian National Team is her favorite team. She would like to have dinner with her grandparents, who have both passed away, and Condoleezza Rice. If she could be anyone for a day, it would be Dr. Emily Stowe, the first Canadian woman to practice medicine in Canada and a very influential suffragist in the fight for women's rights. Sara's father played football, and her aunt played field hockey at Syracuse.
