2010 All-NCAA Regional Team

2012: Had four saves and was 1-2 overall with a 3.34 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched and 22 relief appearances. Came out of the bullpen for 4.2 innings of shutout relief to earn the victory in the Cards' elimination game win over Missouri at the NCAA Regional in Tucson. Pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Cards' May 6 win at WVU. Recorded the final four outs, including three strikeouts, in the Cards' win at No. 1 Kentucky on April 10. Provided 1.2 innings of shutout relief on March 31 against Villanova. Pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Cards' win over UC on March 25. Earned fourth save of the season despite allowing an earned run on three hits in 1.1 innings of relief against Ball State on March 16. Suffered his first loss of the season after allowing an unearned run on two hits in 1.0 inning of relief at Alabama on March 10. Had three strikeouts in 2.0 shutout innings of relief to earn his third save of the season in the Cards' March 3 win over Pepperdine. Earned second save of the season while pitching a season-high 2.2 innings of relief against Oakland on Feb. 25. Also had season-high seven strikeouts, all looking, against OU on Feb. 25. Pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the Cards' win over EKU. Earned first career save with a perfect ninth inning against Illinois in Cardinals' 4-3 win.

Summer 2011: Pitching for the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod League, he closed the summer with 12 straight relief appearances (including 1.0 inning of shutout relief in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game) and 15.1 consecutive innings of relief without allowing a run. During the stretch, he had 16 strikeouts and allowed only eight hits. Overall, he was 1-0 with five saves and a 1.19 ERA in 17 regular season relief appearances and 22.2 innings of work this summer. Including his All-Star Game outing, he had an ERA of 0.89 in 23.2 innings in the prestigious league.

2011: Went 5-5 with a 3.48 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 67.1 innings while making 11 starts and 16 total appearances. Came out of the bullpen with 2.0 shutout innings of relief in Cards' elimination game win over Pittsburgh at BIG EAST Championship. Pitched 2.0 scoreless innings of relief against Notre Dame on May 21. Earned fifth win of the season with 2.0 shutout innings against Indiana on May 17. Had 1.0 inning of scoreless relief against Vanderbilt. Dropped fifth game of the season on May 7 at Seton Hall after allowing two runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of relief. Finished with no-decision against USF on April 23 after allowing two earned runs and three total runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings. Earned fourth win of the season on April 8 at Cincinnati after allowing three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Dropped to 3-3 on the season despite allowing just one earned run in 5.1 innings against WVU on April 1. Bounced back from tough outing a week earlier to earn a win and improve to 3-2 on the season after allowing just one run on six hits with three strikeouts in 7.1 innings at Rutgers on March 25. Suffered toughest outing of his career on March 18 against Xavier allowing six earned runs on seven hits with three walks in 3.0 innings to fall to 2-2 on the season. Pitched 8.0 innings for the second straight appearance allowing just one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts to earn the win on March 11 against Pepperdine and improve to 2-1 overall. Matched a career-high going 8.0 innings and allowed only one run on five hits with two strikeouts in the no-decision against Kent State on March 4. Suffered first loss of his career on Feb. 25 against Toledo after allowing just two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. Opened the season with a win after allowing just two earned runs on four hits with career-best eight strikeouts in 5.0 innings against Michigan at BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge.

2010: Named to All-NCAA Regional Team. Was 3-0 overall with a 3.27 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 44.0 innings of work. Closed the season in the Cardinals' weekend rotation. Made 11 total appearances with six starts on the mound. Allowed just one run on three hits in 6.0 innings to earn the victory against Vanderbilt standout Sonny Gray in the Cardinals' 7-1 win over the Commodores in the NCAA Regional on June 5. Finished with career-best seven strikeouts while giving up three total runs and two earned on five hits in 5.2 innings against St. John's on May 27 at BIG EAST Tournament. Allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings in game one of doubleheader at Notre Dame on May 22. Had shortest start of the season after allowing four earned runs on five hits in 4.0+ innings against St. John's on May 16. Suffered a no-decision despite the best start of his young career when he allowed only one run on three hits with a career high six strikeouts in a career-long 8.0 innings at Georgetown on May 8. Improved to 2-0 on the season after allowing four runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings in first career start in Cards' win over Rutgers in game two of doubleheader on April 30. Earned first career win with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief against Seton Hall on April 24. Pitched a scoreless inning of relief in Cards' April 18 win at WVU. Had longest outing of his young career with 3.0 innings of relief on April 14 at Western Kentucky, where he allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts against UK on April 6. Made collegiate debut on April 1 with 1.0 inning of scoreless relief with one strikeout in Cardinals' 12-4 win over Villanova.

High School: Selected in the 37th round of the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox after finishing his senior season at Washington High School. Two-time All-State, two-time All-District and four-time All-Conference honoree at Washington High School, where he earned five letters and was coached by his father Scott Koch. As a senior, he was 7-1 on the mound with a 1.15 ERA and 105 strikeouts, while his junior season featured a 5-1 mark, four saves, a 2.08 ERA and 67 strikeouts. Was the winning pitcher as a sophomore for Washington's 2007 state championship winning team. Student council president, class president and member of National Honor Society. Also earned four letters in track and field as the school record holder in the high jump and two-time All-State honoree. Earned four letters in basketball and was an All-Conference selection and earned three letters in football as an All-District honoree.

Personal: Born on Nov. 2, 1990, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Son of Scott and Deb Koch. Has one brother, Jared, and one sister, Samantha. Majoring in sport administration at the University of Louisville. Biggest thrill in sports was being the winning pitcher for Washington's state title game triumph in 2007. People with the greatest influence on his athletic career are his father and brother, who have always told him not to be satisfied. Hobbies and interests include sports.
