2008: Sat out the season while utilizing a medical redshirt after having off-season surgery.
2007: Worked his way into the No. 3 starter role, making 10 starts and 25 appearances for the Cardinals after joining the team in January. Posted a 3.56 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. Opponents hit a paltry .214 against the righty. His 25 appearances was tied for seventh in the BIG EAST. Was saddled with the loss, despite a solid outing in Omaha against UNC (6/19), allowing just one earned run in 3.2 innings on two hits, striking out four. Tossed the first 3.1 innings of the Cardinals win over OSU (6/10) in the Super Regional Championship game. Allowed two hits in three innings, helping the Cards to a 4-3 win over Missouri in NCAA Regional (6/3). Gave up a single and struck out six in 4.2 solid innings at UC (5/19), helping the Cards to a series-clinching win. Was forced to exit the game after being hit on the leg with a line drive. Allowed just a single run in 5.1 innings in win over Notre Dame (5/13), clinching a three-game sweep of the Irish. Gave up just one run in four innings to help the Cardinals to a 4-2 win and series victory over USF (4/29). Helped team to a 2-1 win at Seton Hall (4/22), allowing just a run on two hits and a walk, striking out four in a career-long 6.0 innings. Nudged into the weekend rotation after injury to Tyler Mathis and struck out five, allowing a run in 3.2 IP at UConn (4/14). Picked up the win at Villanova (3/24b) with 3.1 hitless innings out of the pen, striking out seven to equal his career-best. Notched save number one, striking out the leadoff man with two on in two-run ballgame against Ball State (3/20), striking out three in 2.1 scoreless. Picked up his first win with the Cardinals, striking out a career-best seven in a carer-long 3.2 IP against Illinois State (3/3). Struck out two in a scoreless inning of work in win over Morehead (2/28). Retired the side in order against Stetson (2/25). Struck out three against Murray (2/20) in a scoreless inning out of the pen. Mowed down the side in order in the ninth to seal a shutout win over Northwestern State (2/16) in the season opener, striking out one.
Scottsdale Community College: Went 5-3 in 13 appearances, allowing just 43 hits and 29 walks in 66.1 IP while fanning 70 and posting a 1.63 ERA for the Fighting Artichokes.
Lower Columbia College: Played for the NWAACC champions, helping the squad to a 39-6 overall record and 23-1 in conference play. He was taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 32nd round with 970th pick.
High School: Lettered three times in baseball and twice in basketball for Redmond High School in Redmond, Ore. Second Team All-Conference as a senior with the Panthers. The basketball team won a state title in 2003. Picked by the Cubs in the 36th round. Led the WMBL in saves.
Personal: Born 8/12/86 to Beth and Jim Wark in Anchorage, Alaska. Biggest thrill in sports was taking the mound at Rosenblatt Stadium in tie College World Series. Is majoring in sport administration at U of L. Would like to open his own landscape, architecture and design company or play pro ball when he finishes school. Enjoys fishing and rodeo in his spare time. The Replacements, Talladega Nights and Top Gun are his favorite movies. Likes to watch Lost, Deal or No Deal, Dirty Jobs, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet on TV. Tom Glavine, Jake Plummer and Michael Jordan is his favorite athletes. Mazatlan Mexican is his favorite food along with Lucky Charms - "They're magically delicious," and Reese's peanut butter cups. The Boston Red Sox are his favorite team. Likes to listen to Alan Jackson and country music. Not many people know that he lives on a large cattle ranch in central Oregon. His dad played NCAA D-I hockey at Alaska-Anchorage. His dream dinner guest would be the Klumps from the Nutty Professor. His favorite quote is: "You know you are pitching well when the batters look as bad as you do at the plate." Once caught a large porcupine, named him Spike and made him his pet.
