2006: Posted a 4-2 record with a 3.69 ERA in 13 appearances - nine of which were starts. Went 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA in BIG EAST match-ups. Ranks fourth in school history with a 3.97 career ERA. Was perfect through the first four innings against Seton Hall (5/19), and through seven innings he had allowed just two runners on base, on a base-hit in the fifth and a two-out error in the seventh. Took the no decision with a career-best 7.2 frames, fanning three. Gave up just one earned run in earning the win over Murray (5/3). Tied a career-high with six strikeouts, allowing just two hits and a walk. Tossed 1.2 scoreless at WVU (4/22). Logged two-thirds scoreless out of the pen at USF (4/14). Made his first appearance out of the pen with two hitless innings in win over Evansville (4/11). Earned the win with six strong innings, allowing a run on five hits and a walk, striking out three against Rutgers (3/26). Completed a stretch of 13.0 consecutive scoreless innings with six innings of shutout baseball, striking out five in win over EMU (3/4). Was dominant in start against Northwestern (2/24), limiting the Wildcats to 4 hits and a walk, equalling a career-high with six strikeouts in a career-long seven innings of shutout baseball.
2005: Enjoyed an outstanding season, going 5-5 with a save and a 3.72 ERA in 20 appearances, 16 of which were out of the bullpen. Limited opponents to a .255 average. Was 4-2 with a 2.39 ERA and a .215 opponents average out of the bullpen. Allowed one earned over 4.2 innings in his postseason debut against USF in the C-USA Tournament (5/26), equalling a career-high with six strikeouts. Earned win number five with four innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits and a walk, fanning one against UAB (5/19). Picked up his fourth win, allowing two runs in four innings of relief, striking out the side in order in the first inning he worked, totalling five K's in the effort against Butler (5/10). Tossed 3.2 scoreless innings of relief in win at Charlotte(5/6), striking out four. Picked up the win with four scoreless innings of relief in a 19-13 slugfest at SLU (4/24). Notched two innings of one-hit, shutout relief at Xavier (4/20). Tossed three innings of one-hit relief, striking out four at UK(4/13). Picked up his second win of the season in his first start, allowing two runs, while scattering eight hits and a walk in a career-high five innings, fanning a career-best six at UC(3/20b). Set a then-career-best mark with 4.1 innings of relief at Evansville, allowing a run and snapping a stretch of 17.1 innings of work from the beginning of the season in which he did not allow an earned run. Notched the first win of his collegiate career with two perfect innings of relief, striking out two and shutting down #12 Georgia (3/12a). Earned his first career save with three hitless innings, striking out a career-best four in win over Toledo (2/26). Didn't allow an earned run in 1.1 innings in win over EKU (2/23). Tossed two perfect innings out of the pen in win over Kent (2/19).
2004: Saw limited time in his first season of college baseball following a redshirt season. Made his collegiate debut with a start against Murray State(3/16), tossing a perfect first, and allowing a run on two hits in two innings, fanning two.
2003: Redshirt. Member of AD Honor Roll, C-USA Honor Roll and Red & Black Scholar Athlete.
High School: Lettered in baseball at nearby duPont Manual High School, playing for former Cardinal Travis Kahoalii at first and on the hill. Was a four-year honor student in high school.
Personal: Born 6/6/85 in Vancouver, British Columbia to David and Julie Magnuson. Is a mechanical engineering major. Lists fly-fishing, baseball and cars as his hobbies. Favorite movie is Lord of the Rings, favorite TV show is Star Trek. Favorite food is pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. Favorite candy bar is Twix, cereal is Cheerios. Biggest thrill in sports was playing in a tournament in Cooperstown, New York. His dream dinner guests would be Jesus, J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. His dad and uncle Paul both played collegiate hockey and his great uncle is the late Keith Magnuson who had a legendary college and NHL hockey career.
