Cardinals Mercy-Rule Stanford to Even Series
April 11, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team scored early and often on its way to a 10-0 victory over Stanford in seven innings on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (20-15, 6-8 ACC) plated double-digit runs for the 11th time on the season to even up the weekend series.
It was all Cards from the outset on Saturday, as Louisville put up crooked numbers in three of the first four innings.
Griffin Crain led off the first with a double and scored two batters later on a RBI single from Tague Davis. Jimmy Nugent grounded out to score Davis for the second run and Lucas Moore followed with a two-run single into center that made it 4-0 after one.
Ethan Eberle kept Stanford (15-16, 5-9) off the board and the Cards went back to work at the plate in the third. Bayram Hot started the inning with a single before a two-out walk to Moore put a pair on. Kade Elam then drove everyone home with one swing, hammering a pitch off the light pole in left-centerfield. The homer was his fourth of the year and third in the last five games.
Following another zero from Eberle, the Cardinals pushed three more runs across in the fourth. Hot doubled home Zion Rose and Moore delivered another two-out, two-run hit to put the Cards in double digits.
Eberle (3-2) was excellent on Saturday, twirling six shutout innings. The southpaw scattered seven hits, all singles, while striking out seven and walking just two.
Jake Schweitzer came on and closed out the game with a scoreless seventh.
Eight of nine Cardinals had hits in the game, led by multi-hit days from Hot and Moore. Moore drove in four runs as well.
The Cards finished with a season-high seven stolen bases in the win. Hot had a career-best three along with two from Rose.
Louisville and Stanford wrap up the weekend on Sunday with first pitch at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on the ACC Network.
