Gorbenko, Dennis Head to Finals After Prelims on Day 3 of NCAAs

Gorbenko will participate in the 200 breaststroke, and Dennis will compete in the 50 freestyle
ATLANTA – University of Louisville swimmers Anastasia Gorbenko and Julia Dennis and the 400-medley relay team will compete for the Cards in tonight's finals action at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
Friday's prelims action started with the 100 back, where freshman Julie Mishler finished third in her heat with a time of 52.01. In the final prelim heat, Camille Murray took eighth at 52.60.
In the 200 breast, Gorbenko earned the top overall seed heading into tonight's final with a prelim time of 2:05.16. Mia Cheatwood followed, taking third in her heat and 10th overall to claim her second Honorable Mention All-American honors of the meet with a time of 2:07.76. Kim Herkle placed eighth in her heat at 2:12.22.
Freshman Thilda Hall set a freshman record in the 500 free with a time of 4:37.70, breaking Mallory Comerford's decade-long record time of 4:38.01 set in 2016. Daria Golovaty notched fifth in her heat at 4:42.34, while Leticia Fassina Romao finished third in her heat at 4:45.55.
In the 50 free, Dennis won her prelim heat to secure the third overall seed with a season-best time of 21.13. Sophomore Caroline Larsen (21.77) and Mishler (21.83) both finished seventh in their respective heats. Ella Welch rounded out the Cards, taking fourth in her heat at 22.08.
Tonight's finals competition is slated for 6 p.m. ET, with live results available on the Meet Mobile app and DiveMeets. The meet will also be streamed on ESPN+.
